BMNH Dinosaur Exhibition Staged at Wanda Plaza in Xiangyang City of Hubei Province

At the invitation ofWandaPlaza, a BMNH exhibition on dinosaurs was opened there on 26 November, 2011.

The exhibition will last for one month, displaying one Mamenchisaurus jingyanensis, one Tuojiangosaurus, one young Allosaurus and one Deinonychus. With its body length being 26 meters long and its fossil composition reaching 85 percent, the Mamenchisaurus jingyanensis exhibit is extremely precious as it’s the most complete among the longest dinosaur fossils in Asia. A dinosaur group thriving about 140 million years ago at the late Jurassic, Mamenchisaurus jingyanensis specimens were excavated in Jingyan County of Sichuan Province and constitute an indigenous dinosaur on Chinese land. The specimen has been displayed in theUS,Italy, theNetherlands,Australiaand Hong Kong, creating a phenomenon each time it was on display. For the young Allosaurus and the Deinonychus, this exhibition inXiangyangCitywas their debut.

This exhibition has met with warm welcome from citizens in Xiangyang, and lots of local well-known figures were invited at the opening ceremony.
