On 26 October, 2011, a routine assessment session was carried out among the docents of Science Communication Department who undertake the primary visitor services. The jury were composed of Deputy Director Li Jianwen, colleagues of Science Communication Department, Human Resources Department and Science Research Department, as well as some experienced volunteers.

Ready as they are always, each docent led an over 10 minutes long gallery guidance tour in Chinese and a foreign language. The originality, accuracy and attractiveness of their presentation were emphasized on. Some docents gave demonstrations on how to conduct fine lectures to kids with interesting experiments in the Discovery Corner.

A very rewarding process, the assessment allowed the docents to learn from each other, and enabled the jury to see the potentials of each docent and their space for improvement.
